General Electric have unveiled a Holographic Storage disc which can store 500 gigabytes of data which is equal to 100 DVDs. The discs are also the same size as regular DVD discs.

The micro-holographic disc can store more data than regular DVDs as it stores the information in 3 dimensions rather than just the surface of the disc

“Very recently, the team at GE has made dramatic improvements in the materials enabling significant increases in the amount of light that can be reflected by the holograms.”

Really, Who needs so much storage? Oh yeah right, me! With one of these things I can storage all my scrapbooking stuff and my pictures, it helps to prevent clutter.

A virus designed to target Mac computers has been detected in the wild. The virus, called ‘iBotNet’, first came to the attention of computer security firms at the start of the year and infected at least several thousand machines. According to Symantec director of security response Kevin Haley Macs haven’t been targeted because virus writers want to go after bigger targets. He says he expects to see more viruses like this one.

But It’s not the first time says Networks senior security researcher José Nazario. Who asure that this virus is getting a lot of press coverage because it targets Macs. He said that people think Macs are immune to malware which is not true.

All computers are prone to virus attacts, weather they are Mac or PC, just remember to protect your computer with a valid and good Antivirus.

Timeline shows information in chronological order and its archives cover news dating back to the 1400s. It searches Google News for the entered search query and throws back results arranged by date, week, month, or year.

Timeline was developed by Andy Hertzfeld, who worked on the original Apple Macintosh. He said: “I think being able to see the culture of the human race laid out on the computer screen like this is fantastic. It’s its own work of art…”

Gangs in Europe are willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money for old Nokia 1100 mobile phones. One such model reportedly sold for 25,000 Euro. Why the hype? Ultrascan, a research firm, states that gangs are able to hack the phone for fraudulent uses.

Only the models made in Germany are of interest. It seems the gangs are able to intercept online banking transmissions and use this information to commit credit card and banking fraud.

European banks require a confirmation code to properly utilize online banking and finalize transactions. Recently, banks have moved to SMS and use a one-time code for use on mobile devices. It is this code that thieves are after.
