Pope Benedict XVI has encouraged his flock of Catholic priests to utilise Web 2.0 to get their message across. The Pope also said that emailing and being generally Web-savvy was no longer enough, but priests need to be on the cutting edge.

In a message released by the Vatican, Pope Benedict also urged caution, stating: “Priests present in the world of digital communications should be less notable for their media savvy than for their priestly heart, their closeness to Christ.”

The message comes ahead of the Catholic Church´s World Day of Communication.

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station have finally been linked up to the World Wide Web after Timothy Creamer finally succeeded in the task Mission Control gave to him when he arrived at the ISS last month.

The astronauts will use a communal laptop to link up remotely to a PC in Mission Control whenever there is a stable high-speed communication link available. Creamer posted the first every Tweet direct from space.

NASA spokesperson Kelly Humphries said: “Long-duration astronauts, they commit to spending months away from family and friends. It´s a pretty unique state of isolation. We expect this to enhance morale and productivity.”
